6:30 -6: 40 p.m.            Joanne Benham, City Youth Director:  

6:40-6:50 p.m.             Lisa Mattson, Rogers high school administrator

6:50-7:05 p.m.             Youth Empowerment Project:  PowerPoint presentation from Rogers high school students:  Kelsey McManis, Burl Bagley-Bright, and possibly Elizabeth Williamson.

7:05-7:15 p.m.             Susanne Croft, Urban Planner with the Economic Growth and Redevelopment section of the City of Spokane’s Division of Economic Development:  Introduction to the BLTS project:

·        What does a quality, diverse, dynamic community look like? Components of the new economy:  Intellectual Age, the Creative Class: 3 T’s, creative energy, young professionals’ role in economic future

·        Why was it most appropriate for students to research how to bring new life to Spokane? 

·        Next Steps:  Apply BLTS research findings and recommendations to revitalization of neighborhood business districts through the NBC Program.  Develop a web-based marketing tool to attract more people ages 18-28 to Spokane.

7:15-7:30 p.m.             PICI students’ PowerPoint presentation on BLTS project:

7:30-8:00 p.m.             Panel Discussion:  all 5-6 students

1.      Kelsey & Burl:  You’ve been asked to research the purchasing power of youth and young adults.  How do your research findings correlate with the market demands identified in the University District survey conducted at L.C.?

2.      Kelsey & Burl:  What can youth do to most effectively engage adults in partnerships to create a “cool community” in Spokane?

3.      Start with PICI students:  What are your plans for next year?  Where will you be, and why did you make that choice?  Did any of the factors identified in your research contribute to your decision?  Where do you think you’ll want to live and work after you graduate from college / in 5 years?

8:00-8:30 p.m.             Audience Q&A with panelists
