Plan Commission approved the Sub-Area Proposal after hearing public testimony on March 28th. Their recommendation will move forward to City Council for consideration in early April. The Plan Commission held a Public Hearing at City Hall on Wednesday, March 28, 2007 beginning at 1:30 P.M. to hear public testimony regarding the Lower South Hill Sub-Area Proposal. Open House will be held on Monday, March 19, 2007 at Roosevelt Elementary School from 6:30 to 8:00 P.M. The City Plan Commission will conduct a workshop on Wednesday, March 14, 2007 at City Hall Open House will be hosted by the Cliff/Cannon Neighborhood Council on Thursday, March 8, 2007 at Roosevelt Elementary School beginning at 6:30 P.M. and will end at the conclusion of the meeting. The Proposal: The Lower South Hill Sub-Area Proposal was jump-started with the completion of the last piece of the Development Code Project The Residential Development Code. The Residential Development Code rezoned (changed the zoning from one category to another) a large portion of the Lower South Hill from Multi-family to Single-family. The portion of the Cliff/Cannon Neighborhood between 7th Avenue and 10th Avenue and from Jefferson to Monroe had discovered for themselves that the homes built in that area as single family dwellings had been converted to multi-family dwellings over time and now the trend is reversing once again to reconvert the multi-family dwelling units to single family homes. The neighbors in this area would like to "lock-in" the single family character that is showing its presence in their area by rezoning this portion of the Cliff/Cannon Neighborhood from Multi-Family to Single-Family.
The Neighborhood Group
associated with this proposal gave the Plan Commission a presentation requesting
their desire to change the area from a Multi-Family Zoning Category to a
Single-Family Zoning Category. Use the link to view the
presentation
