East Central Neighborhood Land Use & Zoning Sub-Area Plan Update Approval and adoption!
In addition, City Council requested Planning Services to review an additional area in the East Central neighborhood for potential changes to land use and zoning map designations. This area is south of First Avenue to Interstate 90 and is being reviewed as a possible expansion of the Centers and Corridors Type 2 Employment Center zoning map designation. This designation is a commercial zoning category that allows and encourages mixed uses, with a height limit of 150 feet. Information about Center and Corridor zones is found in the Spokane Municipal Code at 17C.122 The East Central Neighborhood proposed several changes to the Comprehensive Plan Land Use Map and Official Zoning Map. The neighborhood proposal is the result of a lengthy community process facilitated by Eastern Washington University Urban and Regional Planning, under the direction of Dr. Dick Winchell, FAICP.
